These Black Cocoa Bliss Bites are rich, fudgy, and deeply chocolatey, the kind of treat that feels indulgent but still fits into everyday life. They’re made with simple, whole-food ingredients and come together in minutes, no baking required. Think brownie-like flavour with a little crunch, a hint of coconut, and just enough sweetness to hit the spot when a craving strikes.

They’re perfect for those moments when you want something sweet after dinner, a quick snack with your afternoon coffee, or a grab-and-go option to keep in the fridge during busy weeks (or the holidays). If you love dark chocolate and desserts that don’t leave you feeling overly full or sluggish, these are for you.

Bonus: they store well, freeze beautifully, and taste even better straight from the fridge.

Nutritional Benefits

These bliss bites aren’t just delicious, they’re thoughtfully balanced to keep you satisfied:

Naturally sweetened

Made with dates, these bites get their sweetness from whole fruit rather than refined sugar, which means you also get fibre and micronutrients along with that chocolatey flavour.

Healthy fats for satiety

Nuts, nut butter, coconut, and a touch of coconut oil provide nourishing fats that help keep you full and satisfied, making these bites more than just a quick sugar hit.

Rich in antioxidants

Black cocoa and cacao nibs are packed with antioxidants and polyphenols, which support heart health and help combat oxidative stress β€” plus they give that deep, intense chocolate taste.

Plant-based and gluten-free

These bites are naturally vegan and gluten-free, making them easy to share with friends and family who have different dietary needs.

Perfect portion-controlled treat

Rolled into small bites, they’re easy to portion and great for mindful snacking, especially helpful during the holiday season when sweet treats are everywhere.

Instructions

  1. Place cashews and dates in a food processor and blend until combined. Then add remainder of ingredients minus chocolate chips, chocolate nibs and white chocolate, and pulse until mixture starts to clump together.
  2. Transfer to a bowl and scrape down the sides with a spatula. Add chocolate chips and chocolate nibs and mix with spatula or by hand until the dough is formed. Use your hands to form small 1 inch round balls, rolling in your palm. Be sure to press the dough firmly when making the balls to ensure it doesn't crumble.
  3. Melt the white chocolate in a microwave safe bowl in 10-15 seconds spurts, mixing in between until fully melted, careful not to burn the chocolate. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a 2 weeks. ENJOY!

Frequently Asked Questions

Expand All:

Can I use regular cocoa powder instead of black cocoa?

Yes! Black cocoa gives these bites that deep, almost Oreo-like flavour, but regular unsweetened cocoa powder works just fine. The bites will taste slightly less intense but still rich and chocolatey.

Do I need a food processor for this recipe?

A food processor makes things easiest, but a high-powered blender can work too, you may just need to stop and scrape down the sides a few times. If your mixture feels crumbly, keep blending and it should come together.

How should I store these bliss bites?

Store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2-3 weeks. They also freeze really well, just let them sit at room temperature for a few minutes before eating if frozen.

Can I make these nut-free?

Yes! You can swap the nuts and nut butter for sunflower seed butter or pumpkin seed butter. The texture will be slightly different, but they’ll still be delicious and allergy-friendly.
